American cuisine is about more than just hot dogs and French fries. Prepared properly, favorites like steak and mashed potatoes are absolutely delicious. Allegory is a new American restaurant that opened in late 2018. The owner, chef Christopher Mason, brings his experience and creativity to the table, crafting delicious new takes on favorite dishes.
The atmosphere at Allegory is quiet and soothing. It will remind you of a cozy farmhouse or rustic cottage. Glowing yellow lights hanging from the wooden ceiling add a sense of warmth, and brick walls are the perfect accent. In spite of the small dining area, there’s plenty of space between the tables, so you won’t feel too cramped.
Allegory attempts to source as much of their food as possible from other local businesses. They also focus on seasonal ingredients, which means their menu changes based on what’s available.
Allegory’s menu starts with a good selection of appetizers for sharing. Try the Killer Beet Hummus, topped with beet pico and oven-roasted garlic, and served with naan bread for dipping. The Chef’s Never Bored is a tempting cheese board with cured meats, olives, nuts, and other snacking items.
For small appetites, there’s a selection of salads. Spinach & Bacon, Bacon, Bacon is a favorite, topped with hot bacon dressing, sunchoke dip, and candied walnuts. If you’re hungrier than that, try the Berger, served on buttered brioche with bacon jam and gouda. Other favorites include Skirt the Issue (a seared skirt steak) and Pleasant Pheasant Pot Pie. Vegetarian diners love the Ratatouille, made with delicious leeks and fennel.
Allegory is located at 224 S. Main Street in Naperville. They’re open Tuesday – Sunday for lunch and dinner. If you’re looking for a new apartment in the area, contact us soon. Preserve at Cantera is a friendly and welcoming community.Back to all posts
